CA🍁SP affiliated security professionals and private investigators recognize that their on-duty and off-duty actions affect their ability to work. Affiliated persons shall adhere to this Code of conduct.

1. AT ALL TIMES, security professionals and private investigators must

a) comply with all federal, provincial, and municipal laws
b) not consume controlled drugs and substances listed in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
c) not engage in disorderly or inappropriate conduct
d) treat all persons equally, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, citizenship, religion, religious beliefs, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, or mental or physical disability (the protected grounds)

2. WHILE ON DUTY, security professionals and private investigators must

a) be fit for duty
b) act with honesty and integrity
c) be and act professional in their appearance, mannerisms, and interactions
d) comply with all lawful employer and client policies 
e) comply with the terms and conditions of their licence
f) respect and use all property and equipment appropriately
g) respect the privacy of others by treating all information received as confidential, except where disclosure is required as part of their work or by law
h) coordinate and cooperate with emergency services, where it is required by law

3. WHILE ON DUTY, security professionals and private investigators must

a) not use profane, abusive, or insulting language or actions
b) not use unnecessary force
c) not possess or consume alcohol, except in the performance of their duties
d) not willfully or negligently make false, misleading, or inaccurate statements
e) not withhold or suppress information, complaints, or reports about themself or another security professional

Additionally, a security professional must abide by any additional provisions of their employer’s code of conduct.

Violation of this Code increases the probability that a person is charged criminally and they, their employer, and their client face civil litigation. A security professional or private investigator who has violated this Code may be required to take remedial training, may be disavowed by CA🍁SP, and/or may have their license revoked by the government.
