Chronicles 1: violence against security professionals

Reporting violence against security professionals that might have been prevented by training and tools.

In January 2022, a drunk and angry David Richard PATRICK was running from the RCMP in Nanaimo, BC. He ran into a 7-Eleven to hide. A security guard, sensing trouble, dialed 911. Realizing this, PATRICK viciously assaulted the guard, causing permanent physical and psychological trauma. When the RCMP arrive, PATRICK peacefully surrendered.

  • The guard can never work security again, nor any physically demanding job.
  • PATRICK received a five month sentence for three heinous crimes he committed, including this one.

Security professionals are literally expected to engage in challenging, dangerous, and litigious situations. They are unprepared in terms of their training, and in the tools they carry. Situations like this could be avoided with increased training and increased tools.
